Putin: Lasting Peace Will Be Established Only When Everyone Feels Safe and Secure
On October 5, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, spoke at the plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club, which is taking place this year in Sochi. The theme of the event was multipolar world-building.
“We are for equality, for the difference in capacities of different countries. This is an absolutely objective fact. But no less objective is the fact that today no one is ready to obey. These are the principles that we want to follow ourselves and to which we invite our partners to follow,” the Russian leader said.
He emphasized that the future lies in the world of “collective decisions taken at the level at which they are most effective, by the combination of participants who are able to make a significant contribution to the settlement of a particular problem.”
“Lasting peace will be established only when everyone feels safe,” Vladimir Putin stressed.
As you may recall, last year’s meeting was held in Moscow. Its theme was A Post-Hegemonic World: Justice and Security for Everyone.
