Russia intends to hold a debate on the UNSC-CSTO interaction
As United Nations Security Council (UNSC) President, the Russian Federation intends to hold a debate on the interaction between the UN and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on February 16, TASS reports, citing a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“On February 16, we plan to hold a debate on interaction between the UN and the CSTO. The meeting is expected to discuss ways to enhance such cooperation, taking into account the significant role of the association in ensuring security in the Eurasian space as demonstrated by its effective measures to contribute to the normalization of the situation in Kazakhstan,” TASS quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry. “It seems important to consider the CSTO’s significant potential in countering terrorist and drug threats emanating from the territory of Afghanistan as well as prospects of involving the association in UN-led peacekeeping activities.”
