Airborne Forces Day Is Celebrated Today in the CSTO Member States
On August 2, paratroopers of almost all armies of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Member States celebrate the 94th anniversary of the Airborne Forces.
Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of Belarus, congratulated all those involved on the holiday.
"From generation to generation, the soldiers of the glorified Airborne Forces demonstrate special unity and courage and serve as a paragon of selfless devotion to the Fatherland. Only the most hardened and literally indomitable people have always served in the ranks of the "winged infantry"," Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, congratulated the personnel and veterans of the Airborne Forces on the holiday.
"I congratulate you on the Airborne Forces Day. You are rightly proud of the military history of the legendary 'winged infantry', of the names and immortal feats of heroes - soldiers and officers of the Airborne Forces. They passed the tests of resilience with honor, were strong in character and will, courage and mutual support, readiness to stand up to defend the Motherland," Vladimir Putin wrote.
Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, noted the courage and heroism of soldiers and officers of the Airborne Forces.
"I congratulate the personnel and veterans of the Airborne Forces. Soldiers and officers of the Airborne Forces are distinguished by their high professionalism and readiness to solve the most difficult tasks," Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized.
Airborne Forces Day is a professional holiday of active and reserve Airborne troops. It was established in the USSR in 1930 and is celebrated annually on August 2.
