Today, a joint meeting of the Majilis and the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan opens the sixth session of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan
On September 1, a joint meeting of the Majilis and the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Nur Sultan opens the sixth session of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the sixth convocation. According to zakon.kz, Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, signed an order to that effect in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is expected to speak at the joint session.
On July 10 at the expanded session of the government, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that in his second address to the nation he would present new measures that would usher in an economic boom. The address will be broadcast on all Kazakhstani TV channels.
On August 31, before the joint session, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Nurlan Nigmatulin presented the results of the Parliament’s work during the fifth session of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the sixth convocation. According to him, members of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan are currently considering 75 draft laws. During the fifth session, both chambers worked on 161 draft laws, of which 98 were adopted.
It may be recalled that the fifth session of the Parliament of Kazakhstan of the sixth convocation adjourned on June 30. Among the laws adopted by the Parliament, of particular importance is the law On the Republican Budget for 2020–2022, which fully reflects the social focus of the policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Of the total volume of all expenditures in the republican budget, 46% is earmarked for the development of social sector. MPs have drawn up a constitutional law On Amendments to the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan Concerning the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Status of Its Deputies, which also concerns the issues of parliamentary opposition.
Statutory recognition of the concept of parliamentary opposition starts a new page in the history of Kazakhstani parliamentarism.
