Sergei Rachkov: The West is trying to discredit cooperation between Belarus and Russia in every possible way
The West is trying to discredit cooperation between Belarus and Russia, BelTA quotes Sergei Rachkov, a member of the Coordination Council of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, at the conference Security and Economic Sovereignty of the Union State: Common Priorities.
According to Sergei Rachkov, “the system of joint work of Belarus and Russia places high importance on the implementation of the programme of concerted action in the foreign policy of the state participants to the Treaty on the Establishment of the Union State and the updated Military Doctrine of the Union State, which, in my opinion, is particularly relevant in view of the serious information aggression towards the Union State, in particular on the subject of Ukraine.”
Sergei Rachkov noted that the foreign ministries of Belarus and Russia have recently significantly expanded coordination of their steps on international platforms, including jointly with other friendly countries and associations. In his words, the priority is given to joint efforts against information campaigns unleashed against the states, unilateral restrictive measures, politicization of international organizations and imposition of the NATO-centric security model in Europe.
Sergei Rachkov stressed that the work of the foreign ministries of Belarus and Russia is aimed at finding ways to resolve any issues by political and diplomatic means. “On the part of the Western countries, on the contrary, we see a clear unwillingness to compromise. Moreover, the West is trying to discredit cooperation between Belarus and Russia, to interfere in domestic politics and destabilize the situation in our countries,” stated the Chairman of the Committee on Defence of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.
According to Sergei Rachkov, an updated Military Doctrine of the Union State, approved by the Supreme State Council on November 4, 2021, will become an effective tool to ensure the security and sovereignty of the Union State. “The implementation of the doctrine will deepen the trend of enhancing cooperation between Belarus and Russia among defence industry enterprises of the two countries and ensuring military security, primarily on the common border of the Union State,” the parliamentarian said.
As you may recall, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia is an observer to the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
