Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, has signed a decree "On the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation," the Kremlin website reports.
The decree dated May 12, 2024, appoints Sergei Shoigu, who served as Russian Minister of Defence, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
The head of state offered Mr. Shoigu's place in the Defence Ministry to Andrei Belousov, who was Minister of Economic Development, Assistant to the President for Economic Affairs and First deputy Prime Minister in charge of the economic bloc. As Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu will be deputy to the Russian President in the commission on the military industrial complex and will also supervise the work of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS).
