CSTO PA Secretariat Staff Paid Tribute to the Victims of the Leningrad Siege

On September 8, a solemn demonstration to mourn the 83rd anniversary of the beginning of the siege of Leningrad was held at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery in St. Petersburg. 

Representatives of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Secretariat took part in the ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at the Motherland monument in memory of the defenders and residents of the besieged city. 

“September 8 is not just a day of remembrance of the date, infamous to the whole world. It is a day when we remember the resilience and courage of people who, despite all the trials, did not break down and kept faith in their victory. This lesson of fortitude and unity should inspire us to overcome modern challenges and to create a future based on creation and mutual assistance,” said Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. 

Today, solemn and mourning ceremonies are also taking place at other memorial cemeteries and sites in St. Petersburg and throughout Russia.
