A specialized exercise of the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s logistical support forces and assets will for the first time take place in Tajikistan on October 18–23. Previously the Echelon exercise was held on the territory of Russia.
According to the website of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, the exercise will train aspects of logistical support of the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s Collective Rapid Deployment Force involved in the destruction of detachments of terrorist formations invading the territory of a CSTO Member State.
Over 500 servicemen from the logistical support units of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan will be involved in the practical operations.
The core of the Russian contingent for the exercise will consist of servicemen from the logistical support units of the 201st military base, more than 400 people in total.
As you may recall, it was previously reported that three joint exercises will be held on the territory of Tajikistan near the border with Afghanistan in October: Vzaimodeistvie (“Interaction”), Poisk (“Search”) and Echelon, involving more than 2,700 servicemen and more than 500 vehicles.
