Over 100 terrorists have been apprehended as a result of operations conducted under the auspices of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). This was reported by Nikolai PATRUSHEV, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, at a multilateral meeting of security council secretaries and national security advisers dedicated to Afghan issues that was held in Tehran on December 18.
According to Mr PATRUSHEV, the Collective Security Treaty Organization conducts regular tactical operations, during which only in 2019 more than 250 thousand people were checked on suspicion of involvement in terrorist organizations, while about 100 terrorists were apprehended and another 61 were put on international wanted list. At the same time, 39 illegal migration channels were eliminated.
According to TASS, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation spoke in favour of increasing the exchange of information between states for more efficient prosecution of terrorists and noted the need to simplify the extradition procedure. The head of the Russian Security Council also pointed out the need to combat the financing of terrorists profiting from drug dealing and, therefore, the need to fight drug trafficking.
