Polling stations in Nur-Sultan and Almaty opened in the presence of CSTO PA international observers
Today, on June 5, 2022, international observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, led by the group coordinator, Faizullo Barotzoda, CSTO PA observers’ coordinator, Chairman of the Commission for Parliamentary Ethics of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan attended the opening of polling stations Almaty and Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, as part of the international observation of the voting process in a referendum on introducing amendments and additions to the Constitution of Kazakhstan.
Polling stations opened right on time: exactly at 7:00 a.m. Nur-Sultan time (4:00 a.m. Moscow time).
International observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly are currently monitoring the voting process at polling stations in the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty and their suburbs.
As you may recall, following the invitation of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs of May 6, 2022 and the instruction of Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the Russian State Duma, international observers from the CSTO PA take part in the international observation of the preparation and voting at the referendum in the Republic of Kazakhstan on introducing amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The CSTO PA international observer group operates based on the principles of political neutrality, objectivity, non-interference in the referendum and observation of laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan and fully meets the provisions set in the Convention on Standards of Democratic Elections, Voting Rights and Freedoms in the State Parties of the CIS.”
