The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who took over the presidency of the Collective Security Treaty Organization at a meeting of its Collective Security Council, presented Russia’s priorities for the period of its chairmanship in the Organization in his report.
“We propose to continue developing regulatory and organizational documents that would allow the CSTO units to participate in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the UN,” said Vladimir PUTIN.
In addition, the President of the Russian Federation noted, “Russia will be promoting the expansion of the circle of the CSTO friends through fostering greater cooperation with all interested states and international associations.”
Vladimir PUTIN reminded that in 2018, a package of documents was approved that made possible to grant the status of a CSTO observer or partner. And after these documents have been ratified by all the participants of the Organization, it will be possible to start a substantive dialogue with the states expressing their interest and readiness to establish close contacts with the CSTO, said the President of the Russian Federation. n 2020, the Russian Federation takes over the presidency of the CSTO.
