Armenia takes stock of the CSTO CRDF SFU exercise Grom-2021
On September 24–28, the Republic of Armenia hosted a joint specialized exercise Grom-2021 as part of the plan for joint training of command bodies and formations of forces and assets of the CSTO collective security system.
According to the CSTO website, the active phase of the exercise was held at the Marshal Baghramyan high-altitude training range of the Armenian Ministry of Defence.
According to the exercise legend, special units of anti-drug police and special services forming the special forces units of the CSTO Collective Rapid Deployment Forces (CSTO CRDF SFUs) in close cooperation with units of the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Border Service and National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia detected, tracked down and, using aviation and special equipment, destroyed a large terrorist group that tried to transit one tonne of drugs through the territory of Armenia.
The exercise aimed at practicing anti-drug operations in challenging mountainous terrain involved special units of the Republic of Armenia’s police, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the CSTO Joint Staff and Secretariat.
