On Thursday, January 25, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan hosted Russian-Kazakh consultations on the Syrian settlement with the participation of representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defence of the two CSTO member states.
The Russian Foreign Ministry was represented by Alexandr Kinshchak, special representative of the Russian Foreign Minister for the Syrian settlement, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the development of the situation in and around Syria, focusing on the comprehensive settlement in the country and its post-conflict reconstruction.
The participants noted the leading role of the Astana format as the only effective multilateral mechanism to promote sustainable stabilization in the Syrian Arab Republic.
In addition, Russia and Kazakhstan confirmed the proximity of their approaches to Syria and their unconditional commitment to respect the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.
