Russian doctors, equipment and medicines of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were urgently delivered to Bishkek by airplanes to fight coronavirus
A hundred Russian doctors are coming to the Kyrgyz Republic to help fight against COVID-19, and military personnel of the CSTO base in Kant are carrying out special antiviral treatment of streets and public places in the city of Kant.
According to the website of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic, a special plane of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation carrying medical personnel, equipment and medicines for coronavirus treatment is due to arrive in Bishkek on July 21. The doctors will assist their Kyrgyz counterparts by working in hospitals in Bishkek and Osh. In addition, an aircraft of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations is expected to arrive in the near future, which will also deliver a large group of personnel and equipment to fight coronavirus. The group includes epidemiologists and infectious-disease specialists with hands-on experience in treating coronavirus cases. As before, medical care is provided free of charge, which reaffirms the strategic partnership and alliance between the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic.
In addition, doctors from Bashkortostan and medicines and equipment from the Chechen Republic will arrive in Bishkek.
The Russian side is providing assistance as agreed by the Presidents of the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic, Vladimir Putin and Sooronbai Jeenbekov.
RIA Novosti reports that on July 21, in parallel with the arrival of doctors, servicemen of the CSTO base in the city of Kant conducted special treatment of streets and public places at the request of the city administration.
RIA Novosti quotes the military base’s chief of nuclear, biological and chemical protection service who said that “at the request of the Kant city administration,” the command of the base decided to disinfect “the main roads of the city, public transport stops and entrances to large shopping centres.” “Servicemen of the airfield technical unit have successfully fulfilled the task.”
The servicemen and special equipment of the airfield technical unit of the Russian military base in Kant were involved in treating streets, public transport stops, markets, public places and medical institutions.
The Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan is part of the Central Military District and is an aviation component of the CSTO Collective Rapid Deployment Force.
