CSTO Member States' Military and Economic Cooperation Discussed in Dushanbe
On 27 April, Dushanbe hosted the 21st meeting of the CSTO Interstate Commission for Military and Economic Cooperation.
The event was chaired by Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. Imangali Tasmagambetov, CSTO Secretary General, participated in the meeting.
The meeting discussed further measures on arms and military equipment standardization within the CSTO, development of multilateral cooperation between defence and military enterprises and organizations of the CSTO Member States.
“It is important to take into account national interests and not to upset the already established balances in terms of distribution of tasks and specialization. And to strengthen the focus on arms and military equipment standardization within the CSTO,” Denis Manturov noted.
As you may recall, the CSTO Interstate Commission on Military and Economic Cooperation (ICMEC) was established by the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council on June 23, 2005. Its tasks are to develop recommendations and make decisions within its competence, aimed at ensuring multilateral military and economic (technical) cooperation in priority areas of interaction within the CSTO format.
It has been decided that the 22nd meeting of the ICMEC will be held in Kyrgyzstan in September–October 2024.
