CSTO Peacekeeping Forces Exercise Nerushimoye Bratstvo 2023 Started in Kyrgyzstan
On October 9, the CSTO exercise Nerushimoye bratstvo started at the Edelweiss training range in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan.
Servicemen of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan will be practising planning and preparation of a peacekeeping operation.
Ruslan Mukambetov, deputy Defence Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, noted that the servicemen are facing important tasks to improve CSTO’s military component and build up its potential for the comprehensive development of the CSTO Member States.
“Thanks to the peacekeeping exercises, the personnel of the armed forces of our states are improving their field training and gaining practical experience in peacekeeping operations,” Mr Mukambetov said.
Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, stressed that effective instruments of reconciliation of conflicting parties and restoration of normal life were important components of the CSTO collective security system.
“The CSTO States have more than 25 years of peacekeeping experience. In 2022, peacekeeping forces were used in Kazakhstan and other Member States,” Mr Sidorov said.
As you may recall, the exercises will be held until October 14, 2023 and involve about 1,500 servicemen, 200 units of equipment, aviation, drones and combat boats.
