Representatives of international organizations met at the Mariinsky Palace
On December 20 in the White Hall of the Mariinsky Palace, Aleksandr Belsky, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St Petersburg, met with the heads of consulates accredited in St Petersburg, members of the Secretariat of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Council and members of the Secretariat of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
Meeting participants included Vladimir Zapevalov, Russian Foreign Ministry Representative in St Petersburg, Dmitry Kobitsky, IPA CIS Secretary General, Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, and his deputies Viktor Kogut, Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, and Nurbek Satvaldiev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Jogorku Kenesh, as well as Consuls General and Consular Officers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, PRC, Israel, Armenia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Honorary Consuls of the Philippines, Indonesia, Angola, Pakistan, Guatemala, Republic of Guinea, El Salvador, Syria, South Africa, Ecuador, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Fiji and Namibia. Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, expressed his readiness for a constructive cooperation with the St Petersburg Parliament and announced the first joint session of the working bodies of the CSTO PA and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia scheduled for 2023.
“The CSTO rightly considers St Petersburg the parliamentary capital of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. The headquarters of the CSTO interparliamentary cooperation body is located here, and I would like to thank you as representatives of the city and Russian authorities for your assistance in creating comfortable working conditions for the Assembly,” Sergei Pospelov said.
Participants of the round-table discussion summed up the results of the passing year and discussed prospects of further cooperation between the Legislative Assembly of St Petersburg and representative bodies of foreign states.
