CSTO PA’s Energy Security Experience Presented in Moscow
On October 10, the 2nd research-to-practice conference Territory of Energy Dialogue was held in Moscow as part of the 6th Russian Energy Week International Forum.
The event’s business programme covered a wide range of issues: scientific and technological development of both traditional branches of the fuel and energy complex and new energy sources, opportunities for technology export, security of fuel and energy complex facilities and others.
The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly presented its legislative initiatives related to ensuring energy security of the CSTO Member States.
Sergei Pospelov, CSTO PA Executive Secretary, called regulatory support of energy security the basis of the countries' energy sovereignty.
“Energy security is one of the priorities of the CSTO countries. The security of critical infrastructure, as well as countering terrorism at fuel and energy facilities are issues that are of concern today not only to the Russian Federation, but also to all of Russia’s partners in the CSTO, CIS and Greater Eurasia. And this was confirmed today by those experts who participated in the discussion of the relevant initiatives within the framework of Energy Week. Regulatory support of energy security is the basis of the countries’ energy sovereignty,” Sergei Pospelov said.
As you may recall, on December 5, 2022, the CSTO PA Recommendations on Countering Terrorism in the Fuel and Energy Sector were adopted.
Based on the results of discussions, it is planned to prepare a list of recommendations for development institutions, foundations and public authorities.
