A Meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council Has Begun in Moscow
Today, December 19, Moscow hosts a meeting of the CSTO PA Council chaired by Vyacheslav Volodin. The agenda of the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly includes consideration of model bills of the Member States and coordination of interaction on international parliamentary platforms.
Opening the Council meeting, Vyacheslav Volodin noted that “amid global changes in the world and unprecedented growth of tensions practically along the entire perimeter of the borders of the CSTO Member States, life itself dictates the need to foster cooperation, first of all, in the sphere of strengthening security.”
Vyacheslav Volodin spoke in detail about the achievements of the Parliamentary Assembly and announced the agenda of the meeting.
“The CSTO PA has adopted 82 documents, including 12 model laws and agreements, 70 recommendations in the field of countering terrorism and extremism, ensuring information security, emergency response, military and technical cooperation and humanitarian assistance. Today we plan to adopt seven more model acts,” Mr Volodin said.
The CSTO PA Chairman noted that the parliamentarians of the CSTO Member States would continue “to build a dialogue with the parliaments of foreign states that share the goals and principles of our Assembly, to consider granting the status of observer and partner in the CSTO PA.”
The previous meeting of the CSTO PA Council was held in Minsk on May 18, 2023.
