Delegation of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan to the CSTO PA consists of 6 deputies of the National Assembly of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan and 6 deputies of the Assembly of Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan.
On October 12, Tavrichesky Palace in St Petersburg hosted an international workshop Protection of Electoral Sovereignty of the IPA CIS Member States.
The event was attended by members of the CIS IPA Joint Commission on Harmonization of Security Legislation and Countering New Challenges and Threats, the CIS IPA Standing Commission on Defence and Security, heads of election administration bodies, law enforcement agencies, representatives of the CSTO PA, CIS ATC, the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS Countries, rectors of universities and the expert community.
Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, shared his experience in countering foreign interference in electoral processes.
“One of the priorities of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly is to combat malicious penetration of foreign actors into political and information processes of the CSTO Member States. Joint defence of electoral processes is considered a crucial task and is carried out by the parliamentary delegations in all available domains,” Sergei Pospelov noted.
As you may recall, on December 5, 2022 Recommendations on Improving Legislation to Ensure Protection of Electoral Processes and Sovereignty in the CSTO Member States were adopted. The provisions set out in the Recommendations formed the basis of the updated National Security Concept of the Republic of Belarus.
