First CSTO exercise of the year began in Tajikistan
The first large-scale exercise in 2022 began at the mountain training grounds of the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan.
According to the press service of the Central Military District of the Russian Ministry of Defence, servicemen of motorized rifle units will practice using reconnaissance strike and firing complexes with the support of artillery and aviation in defense and offense at high-altitude ranges Lyaur and Sambuli. In addition, servicemen are practicing firing all types of small arms and grenade launchers and practicing firing from vehicles at the equipment and manpower of a simulated enemy.
Training grounds use static and dynamic targets of various types to simulate conditions as close to real combat as possible.
The main purpose of the exercise is to test the readiness of motorized rifle units and their coherence in carrying out combat training tasks.
As you may recall, no less than three hundred exercises and trainings of various levels were held in the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan in 2021.
The 201st RMB located in the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan is a critical component of the CSTO Collective Forces in the Central Asian region. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance, air defence, NBC protection and communications units.
