Polling Stations Opened in Tajikistan in the Presence of CSTO PA Observers
On March 2 at 6:00, polling stations for parliamentary elections opened in Tajikistan in the presence of international observers, including representatives of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. Citizens started voting for deputies of the new convocation of Majlisi Namoyandagon.
A group of observers from the CSTO PA was formed at the invitation of the leadership of the Tajik Parliament and on the instructions of Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
Polling stations are open from 6:00 to 20:00 local time. Voting is also organized abroad: a polling station was opened at the embassy of Tajikistan in Moscow.
Six political parties are running in the elections. A total of 68 candidates will compete for 22 seats in the single republican district, and 152 candidates - for 41 seats in Parliament in single-member districts.
