Vladimir Andreichenko: We cannot be erased from history
“We cannot be erased from history,” Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, said in Minsk today, on June 15, at the plenary session of the international parliamentary conference Historical Memory: The Great Victory Obtained Through Unity.
“Those who hate the Great Victory should know: we cannot be erased from history. We are the primary successors of the generation of victors. And, fighting the attempts to reformat our historical memory, we effectively join the ranks of our fathers and grandfathers,” BelTA quoted Vladimir Andreichenko.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives noted that the transfer of memory should be a key element of public and media discourse on an almost daily basis, as well as that of research, culture and all the spheres of socio-political communications.
“Protection of the truth should become an integral part of the personal destiny of each citizen,” said Vladimir Andreichenko. “In order to preserve the historical memory, it is important to use the huge potential of various military-patriotic and volunteer associations and youth organizations. Their ideas should not only be encouraged but also promoted in every possible way. Members of such public associations are active and ambitious. They speak the same language as their peers and have an excellent command of digital technology. Therefore, it is easier for them to reach the minds and hearts of modern young people, to form the communicative environment that can unite them on the basis of a firm civil position and love for the Motherland.”
“There is no doubt that parliamentarians must play an important role in the implementation of all these tasks. Despite all the challenges, through our collective efforts we must oppose any attempts of discrimination against our countries and peoples, and insistently promote a peaceful and unifying agenda. And we must not hesitate to remind the world once again what dear price the Soviet people has paid for their liberation from the brown plague and for the well-being of Europe. They owe us a debt that cannot be repaid,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.
