Vladimir Andreichenko has reaffirmed the commitment of the Republic of Belarus to actively participate in the development of the CSTO model legislation
In his speech at the session of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, expressed the commitment of the Republic of Belarus to continue participating in the development of the CSTO model legislation.
“Colleagues, first of all, I would like to thank you for your congratulations and kind wishes in connection with my election as Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. I would also like to thank you for your fruitful work in a new format for us. I am glad that objectively difficult circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic do not stop our activity and we continue our work,” he said.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus noted with alarm the growing threats to the CSTO States “on all fronts and in all dimensions,” expressing confidence that the work of all Organization participants to implement the priorities of the Russian Federation during its 2020 CSTO presidency will ensure “a new level of protection of our countries and the required level of military and political cooperation.”
“Lack of systematic dialogue among leading countries and escalating militarization process are particularly concerning. We, the parliamentarians, certainly must react to it,” Mr Andreichenko said.
He stressed that the significance of the CSTO PA lies precisely in the fact that it “allows coordinating this response both in the lawmaking activities of the parliaments and upholding our common interests on international platforms.”
“As for the future legislative activity,” he noted, “we are ready to continue working actively on it. This is also reflected in our proposals, such as the drafting of model laws On Intelligence Activities, On Counterintelligence Activities, On Criminal Intelligence Activities, On Security Activities, and the draft Migration Security Concept of the CSTO Member States.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus stressed that the adopted model laws should be realistic, have a clear theoretic and practical application and give a new impetus to comprehensive mutually beneficial cooperation.
