Servicemen of the Russian Base in Armenia Held Anti-Terrorist Training Sessions
Russian servicemen of the anti-terror group of the Southern Military District in the Republic of Armenia prevented an attempt of members of a simulated illegal armed group to seize a checkpoint during a training exercise on the territory of the Gyumri garrison.
Upon receiving the alarm signal, armed with weapons and ammunition, the servicemen quickly moved to the place of the simulated attack, using aerosol camouflage.
Owing to the coordinated actions of the unit and the correct choice of positions, as well as the fire support of combat vehicles and the cover group, which was also detecting and destroying small class drones, the attempt to penetrate the territory of the military camp was successfully stopped, and the attackers were neutralized.
To search for engineering ammunition, explosives and weapons remnants, the building of the checkpoint and the surrounding area were inspected by K9 units with mine detection dogs.
During the training, simulation tools were used to create a situation as close as possible to a combat one.
Speaking at the meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly on June 3, Imangali Tasmagambetov, CSTO Secretary General, stated that CSTO pays special attention to peacekeeping and counter-terrorism activities.
The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly has developed and adopted legislative acts on the approximation and harmonization of the CSTO Member States’ national legislation in the area of countering terrorism and extremism, including at the fuel and energy complex facilities; on blocking the channels of infiltration of international terrorism and others.
