CSTO Military Committee discusses modern challenges and threats
A meeting of the Military Committee of the Collective Security Treaty Organization chaired by Army General Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces – first deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, discussed modern challenges and threats. This is reported by the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. The meeting was attended by the chiefs of staffs of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Republic of Tajikistan, Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, and Takhir Khairuloev, deputy CSTO Secretary General.
The meeting considered challenges and threats to military security in regions of CSTO collective security and measures to counter them, development of the CSTO peacekeeping capacity, including its involvement in the UN peacekeeping activities, improvement of organization and provision of international flights of state (military) aviation of the CSTO Member States and a number of other urgent issues. “In the course of the meeting participants exchanged views on military and political situation in the regions of collective security, measures to counteract new challenges and threats and topical issues of interaction between defence departments of the allied bloc states,” the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation informs.
At the end, chiefs of general staffs of the CSTO States approved the protocol of the CSTO Military Committee meeting.
