Vyacheslav Remenchik: Parliamentary Assembly’s statements have a special political meaning
Vyacheslav Remenchik, Permanent and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the Collective Security Treaty Organization, has called for strengthening the work of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly in coordination and adoption of political statements concerning urgent political issues in the CSTO area of responsibility.
In his speech, he described the Statement by the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization regarding the inadmissibility of foreign interference in the electoral processes of the Organization’s Member States and Statement of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on the situation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as “very emotional and at the same time informative and meaningful.”
The Permanent and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the Collective Security Treaty Organization stressed that “when political statements are adopted by parliamentarians, they carry special weight.”
Vyacheslav Remenchik proposed that this area of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly’s activity should become more systematic, “all the more so since the situation around not just Belarus, but any other state in the Organization, is quite complicated politically, economically, in terms of sanctions and growing military threats.”
