n his speech at the European Conference of Presidents of Parliaments in Strasbourg, Vyacheslav VOLODIN, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, suggested the Council of Europe states to develop common standards in the fight against terrorism and formalize them into model laws.
Mr VOLODIN emphasized, “I would like to propose that we develop common standards which, in case of their adoption, should be adopted by consensus. If we speak about universal values, it is obvious that they should be protected, all states should support us and perceive these values in the same way as we do. We represent 47 countries with different history, different culture, different structure, and, of course, after 70 years it would be right for us to follow this very path, because it is the path towards better quality of work, where we could adopt model laws on such issues as combating terrorism and formation of unified lists of terrorist organizations. Only together can we face this evil,” noted the CSTO PA Chairman.
