Vyacheslav Volodin invited Ivica Dačić to increase efficiency of working in international organizations
Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, met with Ivica Dačić, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, in Moscow and proposed to intensify joint work of relevant committees of the parliaments of Russia and Serbia and to increase efficiency of interaction within international organizations.
“We are looking for new forms of cooperation: we have proceeded from the usual inter-parliamentary contacts within the framework of friendship groups to implementing the format of a high-level joint commission,” Vyacheslav Volodin recalled. This, he said, allows the parliaments of the two countries to do tangible work, contributing to strengthening cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Serbia.
Vyacheslav Volodin noted that Russia and Serbia work effectively within international organizations, such as PACE.
“Our views align on many topics. We consider it unacceptable to interfere in the affairs of sovereign states. Especially when it comes to imposing values. We have our own history, culture, traditions, faith. And we are against some states trying to impose their standards and values on our countries with the support of international institutions,” said the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, having proposed intensification of joint work of the relevant committees of the parliaments of Russia and Serbia and increasing efficiency of interaction within international organizations, invited Ivica Dačić, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, to participate in a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. “I invite you to a session of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. The meeting will be held offline on July 1 in Tajikistan. We will be glad to see you at this parliamentary platform,” he said.
Furthermore, Vyacheslav Volodin invited Serbian parliamentarians to observe the election to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
In his turn, the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia said that this was his first foreign visit in the new capacity and that he was glad that it was to Moscow. “We are committed to further development of our brotherly ties,” he said.
“Our relations are at a very high level, so are the relations between our two presidents. We have a strategic partnership and common interests, common problems and challenges. And at this time, alliance and solidarity are very important,” the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia said.
He also thanked Russia for its help to Serbia in defending its territorial integrity in the Kosovo and Metohija issues.
“Let me reiterate that Serbia will never join sanctions against Russia that are imposed by international organizations or individual countries,” the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia stressed.
As you may recall, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia has been an observer to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization since 2013 and that the National Assembly’s delegation actively participates in CSTO PA events.
