Vyacheslav Volodin: The Country’s Development Is Inextricably Linked to the Exploration of Outer Space
On August 28, the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Research and Test Centre hosted a field session of the State Duma Council, attended by Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma and Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
Before the meeting, Vyacheslav Volodin and the first female cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova together with their colleagues laid flowers at the monument to Yury Gagarin in Zvezdny gorodok. The meeting was also attended by Yury Borisov, Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities.
The guests reviewed the Centre’s simulators, on which, since the 1960s, Soviet, Russian, and some foreign cosmonauts have been training for space flights in domestic manned spacecraft, as well as at the International Space Station.
“This country’s development and its economy are inextricably linked to the exploration of outer space. Therefore, we need to create conditions for the space industry. A lot depends on it,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
As you may recall, on May 18, 2023 at a meeting of the CSTO PA Council in Minsk, the parliamentarians of the Organization adopted a statement against a space arms race. It was noted that in today’s world it is vital to increase the predictability of countries’ activities in the exploration and use of space, and the main task is to keep the outer space weapons-free.
