Parliamentary Assembly’s Expert Advisory Board approved the law on CSTO peacekeeping forces
The meeting of the Expert Advisory Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization held on October 18 at the St Petersburg Parliamentary Centre in hybrid mode approved the draft of the model law On CSTO Peacekeeping Activities and Peacekeeping Forces. It was decided to submit the draft model law to the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Defence and Security for consideration. In total, the session chaired by Anatoly Vyborny, Chairman of the Expert Advisory Board under the Council of the CSTO PA, Chairman of the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Defence and Security, deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Security and Corruption Control, considers more than 10 CSTO draft model laws.
The draft model law was prepared and discussed by deputies of the parliaments of all CSTO Member States, more than 50 experts including specialists of the CSTO Joint Staff, CIS Anti-Terrorism Centre, Coordination Council of Prosecutors General of the Member Nations of the CIS, Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Ministry of Defence and Interior of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the R&D Centre of the Russian FSB.
As you may recall, the draft law was developed at the suggestion of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin during the Russian Federation’s presidency in the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
