CSTO States Celebrate NBC Protection Troops Day on November 13
On November 13, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia celebrate the Day of Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops.
The history of this troops unit dates back to the First World War, when countries began to use chemical weapons for military purposes. Initially, they were called chemical troops.
They included specialists who used toxic substances and gas mask divisions to protect the troops.
Andrei Belousov, Russian Defence Minister, congratulated servicemen, veterans and employees of the military and industrial complex.
“The stages of the great path walked by the nuclear, chemical and biological protection troops reflect the combat experience of generations of warriors-chemists and martial traditions accumulated during the Great Patriotic War, in the days of severe tests during the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl NPP accident, in combat missions in various armed conflicts,” said Andrei Belousov.
CSTO parliamentarians are actively working to ensure the medical and biological security of the Organization's Member States. In particular, in 2023, Recommendations on legislative provision of biological security for CSTO Member States were adopted.
