The Day of the National Guard of Tajikistan is celebrated on September 3
The Day of the National Guard of Tajikistan is celebrated every year on September 3. It was established to highlight the contribution of this paramilitary formation to ensuring public security.
Over 28 years of fruitful activity, the National Guards of the Republic of Tajikistan, with the constant support of President Emomali Rahmon, has been periodically improved and transformed from a military unit into a powerful security agency.
The National Guards possesses all types of light and heavy military equipment: tanks and other armoured vehicles and modern weapons. It carries out safety and security, search, operative, technical and other procedures to ensure the security of objects under state protection, as well as protection and defence of buildings, structures and adjacent territories, the list of which is determined by the President.
Together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Committee for National Security, the Guards’ tasks also include securing the places where meetings of the President of Tajikistan and heads of foreign states, governments and international organizations are held in the territory of the Republic and protecting the State Flag and the State Emblem of the Republic. It participates in anti-terrorist activities and sabotage prevention, in civil and territorial defence, in responding to natural and man-made accidents and disasters, and in ceremonial meetings and send-offs of heads of foreign states, governments and international organizations.
