On June 30, the International Day of Parliamentarism is celebrated.
This holiday was established by the UN General Assembly at the initiative of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to mark the special role of parliamentarians and parliamentary diplomacy in building a civilized interstate and international dialogue.
This date is a tribute to parliaments and legislative assemblies around the world, and it was not chosen by chance. On June 30, 1889, the first international conference of the IPU — the largest and the oldest association of parliamentarians in the world — was held in Paris.
The International Day of Parliamentarism is celebrated in all CSTO Member States.
