In accordance with the decision of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a group of international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly has been formed and started its work to monitor the preparation for and conduct of the snap presidential election in Kazakhstan.
Sergei NEVEROV, deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, has been appointed coordinator of the group of international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. The group includes international observers representing the supreme legislative bodies of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the short-term monitoring of election, the group members will meet with representatives of public and campaign offices of the candidates to the post of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the CEC management and the corresponding territorial electoral commissions.
On election day, international observers from the CSTO PA will follow individual routes to monitor voting at polling stations in Almaty and Nur-Sultan, from the moment of their opening until the end of vote counting.
The international observer group will adopt a Resolution based on the results of election monitoring.
Today, on June 7, 2019 in Almaty, a representative of the CSTO PA international observer group held a meeting at the public campaign office of the presidential candidate from Ak Zhol party. The Nur-Sultan group of international observers has also started its work.
