On April 9, 2020, a meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Standing Commission on Defence and Security was held in St Petersburg as a videoconference.
Anatoly Vyborny, member of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Committee on Security and Corruption Control, presided over the meeting.
Parliamentarians considered the outcome of the November 2019 session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and CSTO’s activities at the present stage.
Meeting participants reviewed the progress on draft CSTO model laws:
On Information Security;
On Countering Technological Terrorism at Fuel and Energy Industry Facilities;
recommendations:
on countering illicit trafficking of weapons of mass destruction;
on the establishment of uniform approaches of the CSTO Member States to the state registration of new psychoactive substances;
on the improvement of the CSTO Member States’ legislation in the area of organization of international flights of the air forces, other troops and military units;
concept action plan and toolbox to counter cyber challenges and threats.
Commission members considered the proposals received from the CSTO Member States’ parliaments and competent academic bodies and institutions concerning the draft 2021–2025 CSTO PA Action Plan on Approximation and Harmonization of National Legislation of the CSTO Member States.
