International observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization discussed legal support for the election campaign and preparations for the vote at the early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan during a meeting at the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Askar Shakirov, deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, stressed the importance of the upcoming early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on November 20 and the importance of the CSTO PA observer mission for monitoring the preparation and conduct of the early presidential election. “This election is of crucial importance for us,” Askar Shakirov said.
The deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan expressed his appreciation for the deployment of international observers from the CSTO PA to monitor the voting process in the early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, stressing the objectivity of international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and their proactive attitude during the observation of electoral processes in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In turn, Vagharshak Hakobyan, coordinator of the CSTO PA observers, member of the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Socioeconomic and Legal Issues and deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on Regional Issues and Eurasian Integration, noted that international observers from the CSTO PA operate based on the Convention on Standards of Democratic Elections, the Voting Rights and Freedoms in the State Parties of the Commonwealth of Independent States (the Chisinau Convention) and the principles of political neutrality, objectivity, non-interference in the referendum and observation of laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As you may recall, in accordance with the decision of Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Council of the CSTO PA, and at the invitation of Mukhtar Tleuberdi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, on September 24, 2022, the CSTO PA has formed a group of international observers to monitor the preparation and voting at the early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The group consists of international observers representing supreme legislative bodies of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Member States: the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan.
On the day of voting at the presidential election in the Republic of Kazakhstan, international observers of the CSTO PA, according to individual itineraries, will monitor voting at polling stations in Astana and Akmola Oblast from their opening until the end of the vote count.
International observers from the CSTO PA operate based on the Convention on Standards of Democratic Elections, the Voting Rights and Freedoms in the State Parties of the Commonwealth of Independent States (the Chisinau Convention) and the principles of political neutrality, objectivity, non-interference in the referendum and observation of laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
