Jamshed Murtazozoda: Political Reform in Kazakhstan Was Implemented for the Benefit of Its People
During a meeting with party representatives, Jamshed Murtazozoda, Chairman of the Commission on Regulation Control and Activity Management of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, who is a member of the CSTO PA group of international observers, said that political reforms carried out in the Republic of Kazakhstan were important.
“This reform was implemented for the benefit of society, for the benefit of the people. And everything is very well declared. Everything is very nice. If they can complete this reform here, including the electoral system of the executive power, it would be very good. It will bring the people closer to the authorities. Now in different countries there is a situation that the authorities are somehow detached from the people, because they have nothing to do with the people and do as they wish. But Kazakhstan has taken a different path: even judges are elected, and this election is already some kind of accountability to the voters for their work, for their activities,” Mr Murtazozoda said.
As you may recall, after his election, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed eliminating the “super-presidential” republic, increasing the role of parliament, and simplifying registration of political parties. The amendments also affected the electoral legislation, the procedure for forming local authorities, the law enforcement system and the judiciary.
Polling stations across Kazakhstan and abroad are expected to open at 7 am on March 19. International observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly will work at polling stations until they close at 8 pm.
