General Anatoly Yakovlev: Improvement of Laws is Necessary for More Efficient Defense of CSTO Member States
Speaking at the meeting of the CSTO PA Council's Expert Advisory Council, held on the margins of the International Legal Forum in St. Petersburg, Lieutenant General Anatoly Yakovlev, Head of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) Planning Department - Deputy Head of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) Planning and Training Center, noted the increased attempts of the collective West to stir up conflict potential against Russia and its allies.
"According to the assessments of defence agencies and the CSTO Joint Staff, the West continues to consider the perimeter of our Organization's external borders as a base for purposeful expansion of conflict potential against Russia and its allies. The spread of terrorism and extremism just adds fuel to this fire," Anatoly Yakovlev noted.
He added that "in order to further develop model legislation in the sphere of ensuring military security," it seems appropriate to involve the specialized military authorities of defence agencies and more fundamental educational and research organizations to develop and approve of CSTO draft model laws and recommendations, as well as amend them.
