Gennady Lepeshko: CSTO Parliamentarians Praised the Exercises
On September 11, at the Edelweiss training ground in Kyrgyzstan, participants of the Coordination Meeting of Chairpersons of Committees on Defence and Security of the CSTO Parliaments monitored the active phase of the Vzaimodeistvie–2024 CSTO exercises in Balykchy.
Gennady Lepeshko, Chairman of the Standing Commission on National Security of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, noted that the CSTO exercises in Kyrgyzstan were praised by the Organization's parliamentarians.
“We saw a well-coordinated interaction, which became possible by taking into account the development of world tactics and by having analysed all wars of the last decades. The aviation also proved itself well in action. The landing of tactical and airborne troops, the very tactics of actions against simulated fighters were carried out taking into account modern trends of blocking and the evacuation of civilians in the areas of planned combat actions,” Gennady Lepeshko shared.
The parliamentarian also noted the importance of the focus of each CSTO exercise held in Kyrgyzstan.
“The Poisk–2024 exercise, organized for the coordination of intelligence units, and the Echelon–2024 exercise with logistics forces and means have both shown their efficiency. What was also important was the use of a large number of unmanned aerial vehicles and medical support practised during the exercises. It is crucial today, since many servicemen die from shrapnel wounds, and sometimes there are no more than 20 minutes to provide medical care. I would also like to commend the excellent training of checkpoint armaments,” said Gennady Lepeshko.
He reported that the CSTO parliamentarians praised the exercises in general and particularly noted the well-organized mopping-up after the main forces had driven the enemy out of the settlements.
In his opinion, the Ilbirs special forces group of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces and special forces groups of the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Belarus did an excellent job of mopping up populated areas.
“The use of such special units is highly relevant,” the parliamentarian emphasized.
As you may recall, at the Coordination Meeting of Chairpersons of Committees on Defence and Security of the CSTO Parliaments on September 10 in Bishkek, Gennady Lepeshko was unanimously elected Head of the Meeting by rotation for the next three-year term. Earlier, the meeting was chaired by Rustam Shokhmurod, Chairman of the Committee on Law and Order, Defence and Security of the Parliament of Tajikistan.
