CSTO Secretary General Addressed the Meeting of Chairmen of the Committees on International Relations of the Parliaments of CSTO States
On February 7, Imangali Tasmagambetov, CSTO Secretary General, addressed the fourth meeting of Chairmen of the Committees (Commissions) on international relations, defence, and security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States.
"We gladly note the regular interaction between the leadership of the CSTO Secretariat and representatives of the parliaments of the CSTO Member States. The parliamentary dimension is becoming an increasingly important area of our work," the Organization's Secretary General emphasized.
He noted that the Astana session of the CSTO Collective Security Council on November 28, 2024, clearly demonstrated the need for further improvement of the collective security system and all its basic elements - coordination of political activities, military cooperation, as well as countering transnational challenges and threats.
According to him, interaction with international organizations, primarily the UN, CIS and SCO, will remain an important area for the CSTO and its Secretariat.
Imangali Tasmagambetov noted that closer coordination in the work of the CSTO Secretariat and Parliamentary Assembly can strengthen the capacity of the Organization and contribute to shaping an efficient “security space” in Eurasia.
