On October 9, Moscow hosted the traditional meeting of the CIS, CSTO and SCO leaders. Sergei Lebedev, CIS Secretary General, Imangali Tasmagambetov, CSTO Secretary General, and Nurlan Yermekbayev, SCO deputy Secretary General, attended the event.
During the meeting, the parties discussed interaction between the three largest regional international organizations, as well as ensuring security in the Eurasian space.
Sergei Lebedev, CIS Secretary General, noted that “new challenges and threats require maximum use of the integration potential of the CIS, CSTO and SCO.”
“Today the CIS, CSTO and SCO states are taking part in the creation of a new world order. Given the changes taking place in the world, we must be ready for the new reality. At the same time, I am confident that joint coordinated actions of the CIS, CSTO and SCO can increase the efficiency of cooperation in all areas. I believe that consolidated work within our organizations should become a reliable tool for reducing international tension and preventing conflicts,” Sergei Lebedev said.
Imangali Tasmagambetov and Nurlan Yermekbayev also expressed their views on the need to strengthen cooperation between the CSTO, SCO and CIS to enhance security in the Eurasian region.
