Head of the Kyrgyz CEC: CSTO PA international observers’ recommendations will help improve the electoral system
Nurjan Shayldabekova, Chairwoman of the Central Commission on Elections and Referendums of the Kyrgyz Republic, held a meeting with international observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to discuss the preparedness to hold a referendum on the draft Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Ms Shayldabekova reported on the referendum preparation campaign and the preparedness of precinct election commissions to conduct voting. CSTO PA international observers, in their turn, said that they would monitor the voting process at polling stations in Bishkek city from the opening of polling stations until the end of vote counting.
According to the Ms Shayldabekova, the recommendations of international observers help to improve the electoral system and to make it transparent and credible.
In addition, CEC Chairwoman reported that in the future it would be possible to hold a Single Voting Day in the Kyrgyz Republic. Such experience is currently being studied.
The CSTO PA international observer group is headed by Igor Lavrinenko, its coordinator and Chairman of the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Socioeconomic and Legal Issues and deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Security of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. The group includes representatives of parliaments of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Member States: Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Russian Federation and Republic of Belarus.
