A group of international observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization met with the leadership of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan on June 8.
At the meeting, deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Konstantin PETROV gave international observers a brief overview of the preparations for the early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan scheduled for June 9, 2019.
The observers, in their turn, noted the high level of readiness and effective work of the Central Election Commission that was carried out in a short time during the organization of the election campaign.
In accordance with the decision of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an international observer group of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly has been established to monitor the preparation and conduct of the early presidential election in Kazakhstan.
Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergei NEVEROV has been appointed as the coordinator of the international observer group of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
The group includes international observers representing the highest legislative bodies of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the short-term election monitoring, international observers hold a number of meetings with representatives of public and campaign headquarters of presidential candidates, the leadership of the CEC and the respective territorial electoral commissions.
On election day, the CSTO PA international observers will monitor the election at polling stations in Almaty and Nur-Sultan, in accordance with their individual designated routes, from the moment of their opening until the end of vote counting.
