Igor Borisov: Protecting Elections from Foreign Interference Is at the Center of our Attention
Igor Borisov, member of the Russian CEC and Chairman of the Council of the All-Russian Public Organization "Russian Public Institute of Election Law", addressed the meeting of the Chairmen of the Committees on International Affairs, Defence and Security of the CSTO Parliaments, which took place on February 7 in Moscow.
In his speech, he touched upon the protection of electoral processes from foreign interference in the CSTO Member States.
Igor Borisov noted that interference can manifest itself in various forms, including destructive information impact, attacks on digital services, incitement to illegal actions, discrediting elections, extremist manifestations and other disruptive methods.
In addition, Igor Borisov suggested a number of measures aimed at preventing interference, including the development of model laws "On Controlling Foreign Influence" and "On Ensuring and Protecting Electoral Sovereignty of CSTO Member States", as well as Recommendations on Countering Destructive Information Influence and Extremism.
