CSTO PA observers at the regular presidential and early parliamentary elections in the Republic of Serbia reviewed the final report on election monitoring.
The observers agreed that the election of the President of the Republic of Serbia and deputies to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia was organized and conducted in full compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Serbia.
A total of 8,267 polling stations were organized for the presidential and early parliamentary elections in the Republic of Serbia. In addition, on election day 77 polling stations were opened in more than 30 countries.
The observers were present at different stages of the election, from the opening of polling stations to the tabulation of results by polling station commissions. Polling stations opened on time and had all the necessary documents, equipment and information materials. There were no complaints registered regarding the condition of the voter lists, procedure of issuing ballot papers or the voting procedure.
The observers particularly noted the calm and peaceful nature of the preparation and conduct of the election, which had a favourable effect on its atmosphere, contributing to the free expression of the voters’ will.
During the voting, observers noted isolated organizational shortcomings that could not affect the outcome of the election.
“The presidential and parliamentary election in the Republic of Serbia took place in a democratic environment and in full compliance with the national legislation and international election standards, which confirms that the state complied with its international obligations to hold democratic elections and to ensure the electoral rights and freedoms of all participants in the electoral process.”
