Bakhtovar Safarzoda: Serbian electoral legislation meets international standards
Bakhtovar Amirali Safarzoda, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, notes the calm atmosphere in Belgrade on the day of the presidential and parliamentary elections: “The atmosphere is surprisingly calm given that voters in Serbia mainly belong to one of two camps: pro-European and pro-Russian. But the situation is surprisingly calm. This shows that the legal culture of voters is high, and they know their rights, freedoms and, of course, responsibilities,” said Bakhtovar Safarzoda. He stressed that the electoral legislation of the Republic of Serbia meets international electoral standards.
“We have previously studied the legal framework of the Republic of Serbia and we can say that principal electoral processes meet international standards of electoral systems,” said the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan to the CSTO PA.
There have been no violations in the voting process so far, Mr Safarzoda said. “We hope that today’s voting will end without any incidents and this day of the presidential and parliamentary election will serve for the further prosperity of this friendly country.”
