Kazakhstan and Russia Jointly Eliminated Drug Trafficking Route
Personnel of Kazakh special services together with Russian partners have liquidated Afghan drugs trafficking route along the so-called “Northern route”.
“Two members of an international drug trafficking group were detained during a drug deal as a result of the operation in one of the border regions of Russia in August 2024. During the search, the special forces seized about 50 kilograms of hashish, which could have amounted to about $500 thousand on the black market,” reported the press service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan.
An investigation is underway.
CSTO parliamentarians express concern about the negative development of the drug situation on the territory of the Organization's Member States. In particular, on May 18, 2023, in Minsk, the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly adopted a Statement on countering drug use among children and youth, which has become global in character.
