Yerman Mukhtar Tildabekuly, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defence and Security of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, commented on the Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan: “At a joint meeting of the chambers of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered an address to the people of Kazakhstan entitled Kazakhstan in a New Reality; Time for Action, in which he outlined a long-term vision of the country’s future development.
The key message of the document is that it is necessary to focus state capabilities and society’s potential on post-crisis development, social protection of the public and tangible business support. Current global trends require the state machinery to take prompt unorthodox decisions, and everyday worries should not overshadow the ‘distant horizon,’” Mukhtar Tildabekuly believes.
“The head of state gave a set of specific instructions on reforming the state apparatus and establishing the Strategic Planning and Reforms Agency that will be reporting directly to the President.
An important part of the Address is dedicated to economic development in new realities. The end of a long ‘oil super cycle’ mandates us to build a diversified and high-tech economy,” the MP stressed.
Mr Yerman emphasized that “among the main priorities of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan are fair distribution of benefits and responsibilities, the leading role of private businesses, the development of human capital and ‘greening the economy.’ President Tokayev spoke in detail about state support measures for various sectors of the economy, and some of them will require appropriate legislative changes.”
“Digitalization of economy, development of agro-industrial complex, logistics, science, education, health care, local governance, environmental safety should drive further reforms. High emphasis was placed on the need to expand economic ties with Russia, interaction with Russian authorities and organizations to promote Kazakhstani goods and attract investment,” Mukhtar Tildabekuly stresses.
“In general, the Address has a distinct social focus and includes a number of innovations for the further development of Kazakhstan,” he concluded.
