CSTO PA Commission approved the draft law On Information Security
On October 19, the Parliamentary Centre in St Petersburg hosted a meeting of the Standing Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on Defence and Security. The meeting was chaired by Anatoly Vyborny, deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Committee on Security and Corruption Control.
The parliamentarians discussed the results of the September (2021) session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility and measures to counteract challenges and threats to collective security.
Together, experts and members of the Standing Commission reviewed drafts of a number of CSTO model recommendations and model laws: On Peacekeeping Activities and Peacekeeping Forces and On Information Security.
According to Yevgeny Zaitsev, a member of the Standing Committee on National Security of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, “This model law has been in the making for several years. It is important, since the threats to our states have been increasing, especially recently.
This model law is designed to become a tool to help our states to develop a unified policy to counter these threats.
The time has come for our countries to develop a common system for counteracting information threats and to approximate legislation on counteracting them, especially given the fact that they are generated outside.”
